SISSIP

The Surrey Intercultural Seniors Social Inclusion Partnership (SISSIP) Network Project, is a Collective Impact Initiative designed to address systemic barriers to social inclusion of seniors ( 55+) and to make Surrey a more interculturally inclusive and engaged community.

Seniors on the Go

Seniors on the Go is an initiative under the Surrey Intercultural Seniors Social Inclusion Partnership (SISSIP) Network project. This program is specifically designed to promote social inclusion, interculturalism, and skills development among seniors aged 55 and above residing in Surrey.

Digital Skills for Seniors

The Digital Skills for Seniors program aims to support seniors (55+) to Age Well at Home (AWAH) by providing them with digital literacy skills. These skills will equip seniors to access resources available to them in their communities through digital platforms and will enhance their quality of life by improving their social connections.

Better @ Home

Better at Home is a program designed to help seniors live in their own homes by providing non-medical support services delivered by local non-profit organizations, such as Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society. Better at Home is a province-wide program, managed by United Way of the Lower Mainland through funding received from the Government of British Columbia.

Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Loans Program

FCR Program is funded by Government of Canada that helps Internationally Trained Professionals to get back into their professional field or alternative related career field.

Career Paths

PICS Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program provides customized services for up to 24 months for newcomers to BC who have work experience in Corporate / Retail & Wholesale / Hospitality / Insurance, Real Estate & Financial Brokerage sector to obtain a management level of employment in their specialized occupation.

Employment Options for 55+

If you are 55+, Canadian or New to Canada and are unable to find a job, come join the ILTOP 55+ program to find the career that is right for you. This program is funded by the government that consist of 8 weeks group activities and 10 weeks of one-on-one job search assistance and self employment support.

English for the Workplace

English Conversation Circle Program provides Free English classes for newcomers, citizens, refugee claimants and work permit holders. Participants learn about the Canadian work culture such as resume writing, cover letter, job search, interview skills and work expectations.

Digital Literacy

The Construction Trades Training is a 15 week program that includes a Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS), Language & Essential skills, Red Seal upgrading carpentry, electrical or plumbing training, Inter-Provincial Red Seal Exam, work experience with employers, and job search and placement support.

Digital Literacy for People with Disabilities

The Construction Trades Training is a 15 week program that includes a Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS), Language & Essential skills, Red Seal upgrading carpentry, electrical or plumbing training, Inter-Provincial Red Seal Exam, work experience with employers, and job search and placement support.

Seniors Care Facility (Assisted Living, Independent Living)

Assisted Living facility provides a special combination of residential housing, personalized supportive services and health care maximizing independence of our residents. This is a unique facility which provides 24 hours care to seniors residing here and staff assist them with all activities including personal care, nursing care, emotional and psychological support and other activities of daily living.

Adult day program

PICS Seniors Adult Day Program is designed for South Asian Seniors who are living at home and being cared for by their loved ones. Our Seniors Adult Day Care Program offers daily structured programs in a community setting with activities and health-related services to elderly meeting their physical, emotional and social needs in a supportive environment.

IRCC Settlement & Integration Program

The Settlement Program works with the eligible immigrant population to address the transitional issues faced by them and assists them overcome the barriers arising out of lack of necessary skills and/or limited knowledge about Canada. The program aims at ensuring adequate participation by the immigrants in social, cultural, civic and economic life in Canada.

Small Business & Entrepreneurship

We offer culturally sensitive training, which includes relevant information and orientation, as well as one- on-one advice in the process of starting your own business in Canada.

Employment & Settlement Support for People with Disabilities

The PICS Settlement Department provides customized and individualized job search-related support for immigrants with disabilities. It aims to assist eligible clients to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment by overcoming barriers and challenges when entering the Canadian labor market.

Intercultural Digital Hospitality Skills Accelerator Training Program

The program provides foundational and functional digital skills to individuals seeking employment opportunities or transitioning to employment in digital hospitality industry. This program is for anyone who is 19 years and plus and open for all categories which means anyone can join and open for PR, Canadian citizen, refugee protected, open work permit or on valid study visa. Classes will be online and course is for 9 weeks which includes employment support.

Financial Literacy

For over 75 years, Vancity has been working to build a clean and fair world where members and communities can thrive. That means addressing systemic barriers to ensure access to financial services and financial literacy for all. In partnership with PICS and equipped with courses and tools developed by our financial experts, PICS is delivering culturally relevant workshops to our communities. We believe the community-based model for learning will create meaningful and safe programs that speak to the unique needs of different groups.
